5 For eI have not lived in a house since the day I brought up Israel to this day, but I have gone from tent to tent and from dwelling to dwelling.
6 But nwho is able to build him a house, since heaven, even highest heaven, cannot contain him? oWho am I to build a house for him, except as a place to make offerings before him?
The Humble and Contrite in Spirit
1 Thus says the Lord:
z“Heaven is my throne,
and the earth is my footstool;
what is the ahouse that you would build for me,
and what is the place of my rest?
48 Yet the Most High does not dwell in houses made by hands, as the prophet says,
49 h“‘Heaven is my throne,
and the earth is my footstool.
What kind of house will you build for me, says the Lord,
or what is the place of my rest?
24 The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in btemples made by man,1
