8 Therefore the wrath of the Lord came on Judah and Jerusalem, and he has made them an object of ehorror, of astonishment, and of hissing, as you see with your own eyes.
16 making their land a horror,
a thing to be hissed at forever.
Everyone who passes by it is horrified
and shakes his head.
15 All who pass along the way
clap their hands at you;
they hiss and kwag their heads
at the daughter of Jerusalem:
“Is this the city that was called
the lperfection of beauty,
mthe joy of all the earth?”
16 For you have kept the statutes of iOmri,1
and all the works of the house of jAhab;
and you have walked in their counsels,
that I may make you a desolation, and your2 inhabitants a khissing;
so you shall bear the scorn of my people.”
