9 who saved us and ^vcalled us to¹ a holy calling, ^wnot because of our works but because of his own ^xpurpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus ^ybefore the ages began,²

5 he saved us, ^lnot because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the ^mwashing of ⁿregeneration and ^orenewal of the Holy Spirit,

20 For ^lby works of the law no human being¹ will be justified in his sight, since ^mthrough the law comes knowledge of sin.

28 For ^fwe hold that one is ^gjustified by faith apart from works of the law.
