8 And this house will become a heap of ruins.1 Everyone passing by it will be astonished and will ehiss, and they will say, f‘Why has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’
16 making their land a horror,
a thing to be hissed at forever.
Everyone who passes by it is horrified
and shakes his head.
15 All who pass along the way
clap their hands at you;
they hiss and kwag their heads
at the daughter of Jerusalem:
“Is this the city that was called
the lperfection of beauty,
mthe joy of all the earth?”
14 Moreover, I will make you a desolation and an object of vreproach among the nations all around you and in the sight of all who pass by.
15 This is the hexultant city
that lived securely,
that said in her heart,
i“I am, and there is no one else.”
What a desolation she has become,
a lair for wild beasts!
jEveryone who passes by her
hisses and shakes his fist.
