Elijah Predicts a Drought

1 Now Elijah the Tishbite, of ^sTishbe¹ in Gilead, said to Ahab, ^t“As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, ^ubefore whom I stand, ^vthere shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.”

25 But in truth, I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when ^pthe heavens were shut up three years and six months, and a great famine came over all the land,

17 Elijah was a man ^bwith a nature like ours, and ^che prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for ^dthree years and six months it did not rain on the earth.
