Rehoboam Reigns in Judah

21 ^fNow Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city that the Lord had ^gchosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to ^hput his name there. His mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonite.

7 And the carved image of Asherah that he had made he set in the house ^bof which the Lord said to David and to Solomon his son, “In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever.

27 And the Lord said, “I will ^uremove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and I will cast off this city that I have ^vchosen, Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, ^wMy name shall be there.”

6 but I have chosen Jerusalem that my name may be there, and I have ^xchosen David to be over my people Israel.’

7 And the carved image of the idol that he had made he set in the house of God, ^fof which God said to David and to Solomon his son, “In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever,
