David’s Charge to Solomon
9 “And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a ywhole heart and with a willing mind, zfor the Lord searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought. aIf you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.
2 and he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: zThe Lord is with you while you are with him. aIf you seek him, he will be found by you, bbut if you forsake him, he will forsake you.
22 For I was ashamed to ask the king for a band of soldiers and horsemen to protect us against the enemy on our way, since we had told the king, l“The hand of our God is for good on mall who seek him, and the power of his wrath is against all who forsake him.”
28 eBut rebels and sinners shall be broken together,
and those who forsake the Lord shall be consumed.
11 But xyou who forsake the Lord,
who forget ymy holy mountain,
who zset a table for Fortune
and zfill cups of mixed wine for Destiny,
12 I will destine you to the sword,
and all of you shall bow down to the slaughter,
abecause, when I called, you did not answer;
when I spoke, you did not listen,
bbut you did what was evil in my eyes
and chose what I did not delight in.”
13 O Lord, pthe hope of Israel,
qall who forsake you shall be put to shame;
those who turn away from you1 rshall be written in the earth,
for sthey have forsaken tthe Lord, the fountain of living water.
