Wives and Husbands
1 Likewise, lwives, mbe subject to your own husbands, so that neven if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, 2 when they see your respectful and opure conduct. 3 pDo not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— 4 but let your adorning be the qhidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. 5 For this is how the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves, by submitting to their own husbands, 6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, rcalling him lord. And syou are ther children, if you do good and do not fear anything that is frightening.
7 Likewise, uhusbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are vheirs with you1 of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
God Is King over All the Earth
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of the Sons of Korah.
1 pClap your hands, all peoples!
qShout to God with loud songs of joy!
2 For the Lord, the Most High, is rto be feared,
a great king over all the earth.
3 sHe subdued peoples under us,
and nations under our feet.
4 He chose our heritage for us,
the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah
5 God has gone up with a shout,
the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
7 For God is the tKing of all the earth;
sing praises with a psalm!1
8 God ureigns over the nations;
God sits on his holy throne.
9 The princes of the peoples gather
as the people of the God of Abraham.
For the shields of the earth belong to God;
he is highly exalted!
27 gPeace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. hLet not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. 28 You heard me say to you, i‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is jgreater than I. 29 And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe. 30 I will no longer talk much with you, for kthe ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me, 31 but I do as the Father has lcommanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. mRise, let us go from here.
