8 And this house will become a heap of ruins.1 Everyone passing by it will be astonished and will ehiss, and they will say, f‘Why has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’ 9 Then they will say, ‘Because they gabandoned the Lord their God who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. Therefore the Lord has hbrought all this disaster on them.’”
21 And at this house, which was exalted, everyone passing by will be astonished and say, e‘Why has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’ 22 Then they will say, ‘Because they fabandoned the Lord, the God of their fathers who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. Therefore he has gbrought all this disaster on them.’”
19 And when your people say, d‘Why has the Lord our God done all these things to us?’ you shall say to them, ‘As you have forsaken me and served foreign gods in your land, so you shall serve foreigners in a land that is not yours.’”
22 And if you say in your heart,
k‘Why have these things come upon me?’
it is for the greatness of your iniquity
that lyour skirts are lifted up
and you suffer violence.
10 “And when you tell this people all these words, and they say to you, j‘Why has the Lord pronounced all this great evil against us? What is our iniquity? What is the sin that we have committed against the Lord our God?’ 11 then you shall say to them: ‘Because your fathers have kforsaken me, declares the Lord, and have gone after other gods and have served and worshiped them, and have forsaken me and have not kept my law, 12 and because you have done lworse than your fathers, for behold, every one of you follows his mstubborn, evil will, refusing to listen to me. 13 Therefore I will hurl you out of this land into a land that neither you nor your fathers have known, and nthere you shall serve other gods day and night, for I will show you no favor.’
8 “‘And many nations will pass by this city, and every man will say to his neighbor, d“Why has the Lord dealt thus with this great city?” 9 And they will answer, “Because they have eforsaken the covenant of the Lord their God and worshiped other gods and served them.”’”
