1 Kings 19:10

10 He said, “I have been very jealous for the Lord, the God of hosts. vFor the people of Israel have wforsaken your covenant, xthrown down your altars, and ykilled your prophets with the sword, and zI, even I only, am left, and they seek my life, to take it away.”

2 Chronicles 24:20–21

Joash’s Treachery

20 jThen kthe Spirit of God lclothed Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, and he stood above the people, and said to them, “Thus says God, m‘Why do you break the commandments of the Lord, so that you cannot prosper? Because nyou have forsaken the Lord, he has forsaken you.’” 21 oBut they conspired against him, and by command of the king they stoned him with stones in the court of the house of the Lord.

Jeremiah 2:30

30  In vain have I struck your children;

they took no ocorrection;

your own sword devoured your pprophets

like a ravening lion.

Jeremiah 26:20–23

20 There was another man who prophesied in the name of the Lord, Uriah the son of Shemaiah from Kiriath-jearim. He prophesied against this city and against this land in words like those of Jeremiah. 21 And when King Jehoiakim, with all his warriors and all the officials, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death. But when Uriah heard of it, he was afraid and fled and escaped to Egypt. 22 Then King Jehoiakim sent to Egypt certain men, bElnathan the son of Achbor and others with him, 23 and they took Uriah from Egypt and brought him to King Jehoiakim, who struck him down with the sword and dumped his dead body into the burial place of the common people.
