1 Chronicles 29:14–16

14 “But dwho am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you. 15 For ewe are strangers before you and sojourners, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are flike a shadow, and there is no abiding.1 16 O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have provided for building you a house gfor your holy name comes from your hand and is all your own.

Job 22:2

2  y“Can a man be profitable to God?

Surely he who is wise is profitable to himself.

Isaiah 66:1–2

The Humble and Contrite in Spirit

1  Thus says the Lord:

z“Heaven is my throne,

and the earth is my footstool;

what is the ahouse that you would build for me,

and what is the place of my rest?

2  All these things my hand has made,

and so all these things came to be,

declares the Lord.

But this is the one to whom I will look:

he who is humble and bcontrite in spirit

and ctrembles at my word.

Acts 17:25

25 nor is he served by human hands, cas though he needed anything, since he himself dgives to all mankind life and breath and everything.
