1 Chronicles 15:1

The Ark Brought to Jerusalem

1 David1 built houses for himself in the city of David. And he prepared a qplace for the ark of God and pitched a rtent for it.

2 Samuel 6:1–4

The Ark Brought to Jerusalem

1 tDavid again ugathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand. 2 And David arose and went with all the people who were with him from Baale-judah to bring up from there the vark of God, wwhich is called by the name of the Lord of hosts xwho sits enthroned on the cherubim. 3 And they carried the ark of God yon a new cart and brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. And Uzzah and Ahio,1 the sons of Abinadab, were driving the new cart, 4 with the ark of God,2 and Ahio went before the ark.

1 Chronicles 13:8–14

8 And David and all Israel were celebrating before God with all their might, with song and alyres and harps and tambourines and cymbals and trumpets.

9 And when they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzzah put out his hand to btake hold of the ark, for the oxen stumbled. 10 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah, and he cstruck him down because he put out his hand to the ark, and he ddied there before God. 11 And David was angry because the Lord had broken out against Uzzah. And that place is called Perez-uzza1 to this day. 12 And David was afraid of God that day, and he said, “How can I bring the ark of God home to me?” 13 So David did not take the ark home into the city of David, but took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. 14 And the ark of God remained with the household of Obed-edom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the household of Obed-edom and all that he had.

Psalm 1

Book One

The Way of the Righteous and the Wicked

1  aBlessed is the man1

who walks not in the bcounsel of the wicked,

nor stands in the way of sinners,

nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

2  but his cdelight is in the law2 of the Lord,

and on his law he dmeditates day and night.

3  eHe is like a tree

planted by streams of water

that fyields its fruit in its season,

and its leaf does not wither.

In all that he does, he gprospers.

4  The wicked are not so,

but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

5  Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,

nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;

6  for hthe Lord knows the way of the righteous,

but the way of the wicked will perish.

Psalm 19

The Law of the Lord Is Perfect

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.

1  bThe cheavens declare the glory of God,

and the sky above1 proclaims his handiwork.

2  Day to day pours out speech,

and night to night reveals knowledge.

3  There is no speech, nor are there words,

whose voice is not heard.

4  dTheir voice2 goes out through all the earth,

and their words to the end of the world.

In them he has set a tent for the sun,

5  which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,

and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.

6  Its rising is from the end of the heavens,

and its circuit to the end of them,

and there is nothing hidden from its heat.

7  eThe law of the Lord is perfect,3

freviving the soul;

the testimony of the Lord is gsure,

hmaking wise the simple;

8  the precepts of the Lord are right,

rejoicing the heart;

the commandment of the Lord is pure,

enlightening the eyes;

9  the fear of the Lord is clean,

enduring forever;

the rules4 of the Lord are true,

and righteous altogether.

10  More to be desired are they than igold,

even much fine gold;

jsweeter also than honey

and drippings of the honeycomb.

11  Moreover, by them is your servant warned;

in keeping them there is great reward.

12  Who can discern his errors?

Declare me innocent from khidden faults.

13  Keep back your servant also from lpresumptuous sins;

let them not have mdominion over me!

Then I shall be blameless,

and innocent of great transgression.

14  nLet the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart

be acceptable in your sight,

O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
