Olasky did a “road-test” to see how the ESV Study Bible guides readers through one of the hardest book of the Bible. Olasky concludes, “The ESVSB thus passes my test…the Bible is the book for all years; this study Bible is a particular winner in the Year of Our Lord 2009.”

That is to say, anyone can access the full ESV text and audio from the Online Study Bible website.

Listen to the ESV Audio

As long as your browser supports Flash and you have speakers, you can simply click “Listen” at the top of the screen (see above). The audio will start at the beginning of your selected passage.

Shortcut for Pausing

Once the audio is playing and fully loaded (the scrolling dots go away and the controller appears—this may take a while depending on the length of the passage), hitting TAB and then SPACE (alternately, not together) will pause the audio. Hitting TAB and then SPACE again will resume. If this doesn’t work, try pausing the audio with the mouse, to make sure the flash object is selected on the page. You can then scroll the page as you wish, using TAB-then-SPACE to pause and resume the audio at will.

Many of you asked to see how the notes work on the Kindle version of the ESV Study Bible. You can now view the Gospel of Luke when you send the sample from the Kindle Store to your device.

Simply open the sample on your Kindle, go to the table of contents in the menu, and click on Luke.

Note: We’re aiming to make the ESVSB available on other digital platforms as well. More to come on that soon.
