This is exciting. The ESV is a wonderful translation, and it’s such great grace that we have so many ways to read it. Let’s just not forget the 2,300 language groups that are without *any* Word of God in their own language. http://www.wycliffe.org/

Looks great - would love to test

How does this relate to the ESV Online Study Bible? Will they be integrated? (It looks from the screenshot that they are…:))
April 13th, 2010 at 11:46 pm
Ben - Yes, they will be integrated. Your account will transfer over.

I have always been impressed with the people behind the ESV Bible and their use of technology - you guys are always ahead of the curve. As a web developer I have been pleased with your efforts! Keep it up!

I doubt this is the case (especially with Gears going the way of the dinosaur) it would be neat if there was some way to do offline access, like Gmail and other things can do.
Again, just a suggestion.
Otherwise, I’ve been looking for a service like this!

Are you still going to have the MP3 audio options? My iPhone can’t play the Flash option currently in the ESV Study Bible site, but I have enjoyed using the MP3 option.
April 15th, 2010 at 11:04 pm
If it hasn’t already been done, please consider integrating this w/ the online version of the Literary Study Bible as well. Looking forward to this!

1) It would be nice if you could work in the King James Version as well into a parallel pane. Actually if there was a way you could quote small portions of other translations into a comparison pane, that would be awesome as well. Let’s face it for studying the bible, no one will ever stick to a single translation alone.
2) What about having a reverse interlinear option? The accordance software has the strongs numbers by the words.. why not port this over into the web site itself? Users need to dig into the actual text as well.
April 18th, 2010 at 8:28 am
3) Have an option to email a note, or set of notes to oneself. I use Cadrebible for my Android phone, and it’s nice to be able to tap in a few notes and email myself as opposed to keeping it on my phone. I can cut and paste those email notes into something else later on.

4) I also noticed going through the devotions calendar that the current day is not clearly marked
(better to highlight it in a more noticeable color)
5) the play button for mp3s in the devotions do not work for me
6) the esv study bible notes on the right do not sync up (automatically scroll down to the notes which match what I jump to - e.g. from psalms to the gospel/nt reading) when I go to the next portion of the devotions, and I have to manually scroll down myself

Good job on the website. I agree it should be eventually integrating other ESV study bible resources (literary study bible, etc - which I presume was the primary motivating factor for having this new interface in one central site).

I just tried to log in to the new ESV Online with my ESV Study Bible login/password, but I kept getting an error message stating that my login name and password do not exist. Have the beta and the ESV Study Bible existing accounts already been integrated, or will that come at a later time?
April 20th, 2010 at 1:37 pm
WIll I be able to transfer my ESV Study Bible account during beta stage or will I have to wait until later? I just clicked the “trial” period, so I have them on this for 30 days, but I would love it if I could transfer my real account now.

Sam-
Thanks for your question. We’re going to migrate/merge accounts from the ESV Study Bible site within the next few weeks. More information regarding the transition will be forthcoming to all esvstudybible users.

Sounds good. Thanks for the response!

I would love to have my notes, favorites and highlights in sync between my iPhone, iPad and the esv online site. Is this something that may be coming down the pipeline? Thank you for making the ESV so readily accessible. It is such a blessing to have my Bible everywhere I go.

Shawn D. & Brandon S.:
Sync capability is on our radar and is currently in the works. Thanks for your comments and keep checking back in the coming months for sync updates.

I enjoy reading this blog. Could let me know how I can go about subscribing with it? By the way I discovered this site through Aol.

The new ESV Online is awesome! Now there’s access to the ESV Study Bible and so many extras. One of the great benefits is the ability to search ESVSB notes, charts, illustrations and articles in addition to Scripture text.
The ESV stands along side the NASB as the best English translation. The ESVSB is the best study Bible of its kind and stands with the Thompson Chain as one of the two best ever made.
May God bless the study of His word!

Great job on the ESV Online.
Will the introductions to the ESV and ESVSB be available soon?
April 30th, 2010 at 10:46 pm
Great job, what a blessing. Thank you!

Just to clarify the comment above… I can’t seem to locate the Preface to the ESV or the Introduction to the ESVSB in the ESV Online. Will they be added or am I missing something?
May 1st, 2010 at 12:45 am
I just noticed that the ESVSB introductions and some other resources don’t yet come up when the appropriate icons are clicked. Are they in the works?
Again, wonderful job. The ESVSB and ESV Online are first class!
What a pleasure to read and study God’s precious word!

Is there an option to change the font of the Bible text? I much prefer the font on the ESV Study Bible online but I do like the functionality of the ESV online more. Now if I could just have a choice on the font display, that would be really good. But keep up the good work. I really love studying God’s Word this way. Kudos to the team on putting out such a fine online resource.

It would be nice to have the option to hide the strongs numbers. Perhaps having a checkbox?

Great Job! May God bless you! Keep up the good work!
I use esvonline at home and at work. I listen to the chapters a lot! Recently started using with my itouch. Great to listen. Some chapters I can listen only 50%. After that it stops and starts over from the beginning. I also got the free esv bible app for itouch. It is awesome. Thanks!
